Top 5 Historical Places in Rawalpind

Rawalpindi is Pakistan’s one of the top five most popular cities. It comes under the Pothohar Plateau of Pakistan. It has many naturally beautiful places that attract almost every tourist. Murree is one of them.

With many beautiful natural places, Rawalpindi also has historical sites. In this blog, I have explained top 5 historical places of Rawalpindi.

1. Sangni Fort

Sangni Fort also known as Sangni Killa sitauted in Kallar Syedan Tehsil of Rawalpindi. It was built in the Sikh Period (1799–1849). It is 36 KM from Rawat Fort, and it takes a 1-hour ride to reach.

2. Rawat Fort

Rawat Fort

Rawat Fort is an early 16th-century fort located in Rawat town. It is 21 min (15.2 km) distance from Ayub Park Rawalpindi. The fort belonged to the Rajputs and later on it was conquered by Sher Shah Suri who in order to make it more secure, rebuilt it. Rawat Fort is also known as Sher Shah Suri’s Fort.

3. Pharwala Fort

Pharwala Fort is a 15th-century located just 30 kilometers from the zero point of Islamabad. The fort view is magnificent, naturally defended by lush green hills on the north and the sparkling waters of River Soan to the west.

4. Liaqat Bagh

Liaqat Bagh is a historical place located in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Liaqat Bagh Park has been open for everyone to visit. 5. Taxila Ruins

Taxila, famous for the ruins of several settlements, is one of Pakistan’s most important archaeological sites. 

Taxila Runis located about 30 KM north of Islamabad/Rawalpindi. Sir Alexander Cunningham discovers them.

Taxila is known for its astonishing architecture and archaeological remains that reveal much about South Asian history.
